She’s here!

We are proud to announce the arrival of Hazel Mariah Reynolds. She is quite healthy, has a full head of hair already, and loves sticking out her tongue at everyone.

New Year’s Resolution

My New Year’s Resolution is to lose 20 lbs in January – and I will do this while exercising less than usual and eating more than normal. :)

20 days and counting… Happy New Year!

November 22nd - 31.5 weeks
Everyone said 'You don't look like you only have two months left' at our family reunion.
Seems pretty round to me.

It’s true, I’ve posted very little for quite a while. Partly that’s because I’ve been busy with Sundrop Jewelry (we just finished our drop-making season and are now fully into the swing of filling holiday orders), but much of the reason is that there simply hasn’t been much to say.

I’ve had an extraordinarily easy pregnancy so far: no nausea or morning sickness in the first trimester, no weird cravings, no worrisome blips in blood pressure or hints of gestational diabetes… Since the 20 week ultrasound, my doctor appointments are about five minutes long and we’ve stopped bothering having Shaun get out of work to come with me: I pee in a cup, they measure my belly, listen for the heartbeat, tell me I’m exactly on track and boot me out. Not that I’m complaining! In this situation, boring is definitely good.

She is wiggling around a lot more these days (as I write this, in fact) – not just kicks, but some big, undulating motions waving across my belly. I watched my bare belly in the mirror as she moved and that, I admit, was kind of weird. And she’s starting to be more in the way when I’m doing certain things – it’s a good thing the Sundrop-making season is over, because I think I’d be having more difficulty these days sitting on a low stool at the lens constantly bending over. :-)

Jr. kickboxer?

Baby Foot

FYI: This is not me. :)

She’s moving around quite regularly now. At least a few times a day, especially as I’m going to bed and at 5am when the cat wants to play. I don’t suppose I can go back to sleep and let them entertain each other? Training for next year, I suppose.

Once in a while she lets me know that all the bending over while making Sundrops is cramping her style – time for a slightly different configuration, I think.

It’s a…

Girl! Probably.

We had the 20 week ultrasound today. Baby was being rather modest, and it’s difficult to be absolutely certain when it’s a girl (absence is always harder to be definitive about), but the technician was pretty sure.

Now we’ve got to start thinking about names…

Baby ‘Registry’

This isn’t a traditional registry. Instead, we have made a list at TheThingsIWant.com – you can go there to see notes on sizes, numbers of items needed, how much we want/need the item, etc.

Since we are hoping to get most of these items as hand-me-downs / used, this is more in the way of a list of the general stuff we want rather than a “Please buy me this exact thing from this particular store” registry. Given how quickly babies grow and how much perfectly good used stuff is out there, we prefer used items to new in most cases.

We have already been offered a few specific things by people, including a few things on this list – thanks so much! I’ve added / will be adding checkmarks in front of items we’ve been promised.

If you have strong opinions on brands / styles of anything listed (or that we haven’t thought to put on the list that you found to be essential) I’d love to hear your opinions – I’m sure there are many things we haven’t yet realized we should consider. :)

If we’ve been unclear about any of what we’re hoping for on this list and you want to check on anything first, please comment or send me an email!

Week 16

We had our 16-week doctor’s appointment on Monday. This was a short one – pee in a cup, check blood pressure, and use a little hand-held machine to listen to the baby’s heartbeat. Everything’s still in good shape. I think we spent about 5 whole minutes actually with a nurse or doctor. :)
