I'm super excited this week, because on Thursday evening from 5-9pm I'll be at KQED's Heavy Metal Artisan Fair! This is the first time for this event, and given the attention I hear it's been getting I think we'll blast it out of the water and make it a regular thing, which would be so cool!
"Step into The Crucible’s West Oakland warehouse for the Heavy Metal: Industrial Artisan Fair, an exploration of raw material and refined craft, hosted in a space built for both. This curated event features local artists and makers selling interesting forged finds and unique industrial creations and handiworks. Come to shop or try your hand at a craft by joining a workshop to build something lasting alongside a master maker."
Not only will I be there with my sun-melted glass jewelry (sharing the limelight with a number of other jewelers), you'll find glass in numerous forms, sculptural and functional home deco in wood, metal, and clay, felted fungus (they're cute, I promise!), natural skincare, and sculptures in brass, bronze, wood, and more!
But the art isn't all one sided! You have the opportunity to get your own creativity on - there are four workshops available: fused glass sugar skulls, sandblasted spooky cups, throw some pottery, or carve your own relief to be filled with cast iron at The Crucible's Halloween iron pour!
So, if you're in the Bay Area, mark your calendars for the funnest, most art-filled evening of the month: KQED's Heavy Metal: Industrial Artisan Fair Thursday, Oct 22nd, 5pm-9pm at The Crucible in Oakland!
