Another way to recycle old bottles

by Tawny Reynolds on Apr 07, 2026

While most of the recycled bottles I use get melted into tiny teardrops, I do use the bottles even more directly in a few of my jewelry designs.  Taking a slice from the neck or lip of a bottle makes a perfect circle - perfect for hanging teardrops from!

The Meteor Earrings and Pendant, Comet Earrings, Gyroscope Earrings, and Perseid Necklace all use these circles as a dramatic foundation for bigger, bolder jewelry than the majority of my designs.  But, since they're made from recycled bottles, they're only available in bottle colors - Water (Bombay Sapphire Gin), Cobalt (Skyy Vodka), Kelly Green (Reed's Ginger Brew), Coca-Cola (yes, really!), and Brown (Racer 5 beer).  (And because of the sizes of the various bottle necks, the Gyroscope Earrings are only in Water and Cobalt.)

P.S. Just as a heads up, these pieces are all on the heavier side, so if you don't do well with heavier earrings I'd suggest checking out the other pieces in my Circular Motion Collection, which have similar forms but don't include the slices of bottle glass.
